Description
Laser tattoo and PMU removal
Our picosecond laser delivers energy in pulses measured in trillionths of a second. The pigment absorbs that energy and shatters into particles small enough for your lymphatic system to carry away, while the surrounding skin is left largely untouched. Compared with older nanosecond lasers, picosecond technology generally clears pigment in fewer sessions and with less thermal stress on the skin.
What we remove
- Body tattoos, professional and amateur
- Old or badly executed permanent make-up — brows, eyeliner, lip liner
- Brows that healed to the wrong shade, or pigment that has migrated
- Partial removal to correct a shape before new permanent make-up is applied
Correcting old brow tattoos is a large part of what we do. If you are unhappy with work done elsewhere, removal is very often the first step before anything new can be built — and we would rather remove properly than cover badly.
How many sessions
Removal is a process, not a single appointment. Most tattoos need several sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart — the gap is what lets your body clear the fragmented pigment between treatments. The number depends on ink colour and density, how deep it was placed, how old it is and where it sits on the body. Black and dark blue respond best; some greens and yellows are stubborn.
At consultation we will give you a realistic estimate rather than a promise we cannot keep. Complete removal is not guaranteed in every case, and we will say upfront if we believe a given tattoo will only lighten.
Before your appointment
- The area must not be sunburnt or recently tanned — reschedule if it is
- Stop self-tanning products two weeks beforehand
- Tell us about any medication that increases light sensitivity
- Shave the area if it is covered by hair
Healing and aftercare
Expect redness and mild swelling for a day or two, and sometimes small blisters, which are a normal part of the response. Protecting the area between sessions directly affects the final result and how many sessions you end up needing.
- Keep the area clean and dry
- Do not pick at scabs or burst any blisters
- Keep the area out of the sun and use high SPF once healed
- No sauna, pool or intense exercise for a week after each session
