Combo Ⓜ brows (microblading+powder)

A hybrid technique: hand-drawn microblading strokes at the front of the brow, machine powder shading through the body and tail. Structure and depth in one treatment.

Description

What are Combo Ⓜ brows?

Combo Ⓜ brows join the two core permanent make-up techniques in a single brow. Fine microblading strokes are drawn by hand where the brow needs to look airy and hair-like — usually the head and along the upper edge — while machine powder shading builds density through the body and tail. You get texture where the eye expects individual hairs and depth where the brow needs to hold its shape.

There are two ways we can arrange it, and we decide together at mapping: hair strokes along the whole brow with shading placed between them for depth, or hair strokes at the head only with the remaining two thirds shaded for a natural gradient.

Who it is for

  • Brows that are sparse in places and reasonably full elsewhere
  • Clients who want a natural front but a defined, groomed tail
  • Skin that will not hold microblading alone but does not suit a fully shaded brow
  • Covering old or faded permanent make-up that needs rebuilding

Before your appointment

  • No alcohol, coffee or energy drinks for 24 hours
  • Stop retinol and acids around the brow area one week beforehand
  • No sunbathing, solarium or peels for two weeks beforehand
  • Do not pluck or tint the brows for at least a week

How the appointment works

Allow around three hours — combo work takes longer because two techniques are performed in one sitting. Mapping and shade selection come first, then numbing, then the strokes, then the shading. Your touch-up after four to six weeks is included.

Healing and aftercare

The two components heal at slightly different rates — the shaded areas settle faster than the strokes. That is expected, and the touch-up is where any imbalance is corrected.

  • Keep the area dry for seven days
  • Do not pick at the flaking skin
  • Apply the aftercare balm thinly, as instructed
  • Use SPF on the brows once healed

How long it lasts

Expect twelve to twenty-four months before a refresh. The shaded portion typically outlasts the hair strokes, which is normal and by design — the shading is what carries the shape as the finer work softens.
